A fleeting encounter with one of nature’s strangest visitors – the hummingbird hawk-moth 🦋✨
At first glance it looks like a tiny bird darting between the flowers, but it’s actually a moth that hovers with the same precision and speed.

I managed to capture a few quick shots while it was feeding – its wings blur, its tongue unfurls, and for just a moment you can see the detail in its flight. Encounters like this remind me why I love macro and wildlife photography so much.

During my visit to @spetchleygardens on Friday the 5th, I had the most wonderful encounter with this robin. It came right up to my mobility scooter — close enough to almost touch. Moments like this remind me why I love slowing down and noticing the details in nature.

Here are a few of my favourite frames from the encounter — from perching in the trees to balancing delicately on the garden fence. Such a small bird, yet full of character.

During my visit to @spetchleygardens on Friday the 5th, I had the most wonderful encounter with this robin. It came right up to my mobility scooter — close enough to almost touch. Moments like this remind me why I love slowing down and noticing the details in nature.

Here are a few of my favourite frames from the encounter — from perching in the trees to balancing delicately on the garden fence. Such a small bird, yet full of character.

My very first attempt at photographing Saturn and one of its many faint moons 🪐 Taken under a bright full moon, so conditions weren’t ideal — but I’m glad to have captured this small milestone. Astrophotography is as much about the process as it is about the final image, and I’m looking forward to seeing how future shots improve.

🌙 The Moon up close…
I spent some time capturing our closest cosmic neighbour, and I’m amazed at how much detail appears when you zoom in. You can even see the craters catching the sunlight along the lunar terminator (the line between night and day).

Every time I photograph the Moon, I’m reminded how breathtaking it is that this ancient surface has watched over Earth for billions of years. Quiet, constant, and always beautiful.

✨ First Light on Andromeda (M31) ✨
Here it is — my very first attempt at capturing the Andromeda Galaxy, taken from my garden in a Bortle 5 sky, no star tracker, and with 500 stacked frames at just 1.5s each.

I’ve shared two versions:
1️⃣ A more natural-looking edit.
2️⃣ A brighter stretch, showing the dust lanes and spiral arms.

It blows my mind that this fuzzy oval of light is a whole galaxy, sitting 2.5 million light years away. 🌌

It’s far from perfect — the core’s blown out and there’s noise — but I’m honestly just buzzing that I managed to capture another galaxy from my own garden. Next step? Buying a star tracker, darker skies, and more integration time!

Believed to be a site of Christian worship since the 6th century, its medieval stone façade and soaring 14th-century tower whisper tales of devotion. The nave and chancel themselves echo even further back, tracing their roots to the 12th century.

The graveyard presents a haunting tableau of aged tombstones, some leaning as if burdened by the weight of years spent in watchful vigil. As you wander the path beside the weathered stone walls, you find yourself at eye-level with those long departed — a poignant reminder of the vibrant lives that once animated this remote corner of Wales.

Here, every breeze carries the echoes of yesteryears, and the shadows seem to stretch and linger just a bit longer. Would you dare to explore this mystical space after dark? 🌌⛪️⚰️

A few quiet hours under the stars, some careful edits, and a lot of trial and error.

These were taken from a small cabin in the UK using my Canon R10. I had no idea the Milky Way would show up so clearly.

Still learning… but this felt like magic. ✨

I sat quietly for this one — just watching. This Harlequin Ladybird emerged from the top of our wooden fence and began feeding on the remains of a larva on the bark. No rush. No fanfare. Just the daily rhythm of survival.

This is the kind of shot you only find when you really look not for something grand, but for something real. Moments like these unfold when you take your time, and let nature come to you.
